1.1 Background of the Study
Toro Local Government Area in Bauchi State is known for its fertile land, which supports the production of various agricultural products, including honey. Local beekeepers in the region have developed traditional methods of honey production, producing a high-quality product that is sought after in local and regional markets. However, the marketing and promotion of local honey has been limited, and many beekeepers face challenges related to competition from commercial honey producers. Photography offers a unique opportunity to highlight the value of local honey production, raise awareness about the benefits of consuming local honey, and encourage investment in the honey production sector. This study explores the role of photography in promoting local honey production in Toro LGA.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Local honey production in Toro LGA faces challenges such as limited exposure, low demand, and the predominance of mass-produced honey. These issues limit the economic potential of beekeepers in the region. Photography, as a visual tool, can help showcase the process of honey production, the quality of the product, and the socio-economic benefits of local honey for both producers and consumers. However, the extent to which photography has been used to promote honey production in Toro LGA is underexplored. This study aims to investigate how photography can be utilized to enhance the visibility and appeal of local honey.
